OUR STORY
BORN FROM ADVERSITY.
BUILT FOR OPPORTUNITY.
Every great program begins with a purpose. Ours began with a question: What happens when the values we teach young athletes on the field are not reflected in the decisions made for them off it?
HOW IT BEGAN
SOMETIMES, A NEW PATH MUST BE BUILT.
Flagship City Freeze was born from a situation in which a young athlete’s love of football, commitment to a team, and willingness to put in the work were not enough to guarantee the opportunity to continue playing.
And when the adults responsible for making decisions were faced with an opportunity to demonstrate the very principles they expected young athletes to uphold, those principles were put to the test.
That experience raised a larger question: Why should young athletes be expected to demonstrate courage, loyalty, accountability, and perseverance when the institutions guiding them are unwilling to demonstrate those same qualities?
We believe leadership is measured not simply by the rules it enforces, but by the fairness, consistency, and integrity with which it makes decisions.
Rather than allow disappointment to define the future, we chose to build something better.
A program built on opportunity.
Committed to demonstrating character, not just teaching it.
That is how Flagship City Freeze began.
WHAT WE STAND FOR
OUR PRINCIPLES.
Not just values we teach. Standards we hold ourselves to.
01
OPPORTUNITY
Every eligible athlete deserves the chance to compete, develop, contribute, and earn their place through effort and dedication.
02
INCLUSION
Football belongs to those willing to play it. No athlete should be denied an opportunity because of their gender, race, ethnicity, religion, background, or personal differences. Every eligible athlete deserves to be judged by their character, commitment, effort, and willingness to be part of a team.
03
INTEGRITY
The lessons we teach on the field must guide our decisions off it. Our principles will not change when upholding them becomes inconvenient.
04
ACCOUNTABILITY
Leadership is a responsibility, not a privilege. Every decision must be made with the interests of our athletes and the program in mind.
WHO BELONGS
DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS. ONE TEAM.
At Flagship City Freeze, we believe the opportunity to play football should never be determined by an athlete’s gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or the circumstances that make them different from their teammates.
We recognize that every athlete brings a different story, different experiences, and different strengths to the field. Those differences should never be treated as obstacles to belonging. They are part of what makes a team stronger.
We will not ask athletes to change who they are to earn acceptance. We will ask them to show up, work hard, respect one another, support their teammates, and embrace the responsibilities that come with wearing the Freeze uniform.
Our program is being developed to serve eligible students attending private Catholic educational institutions within the Diocese of Erie. Within that eligibility framework, every athlete will be afforded the same respect, consideration, and opportunity to participate, regardless of personal identity or background.
Different backgrounds. Equal opportunity.
HOW WE LEAD
A PROGRAM BUILT TOGETHER.
Flagship City Freeze is being built on the belief that a youth football program should belong to the community it serves, not be controlled by any one individual.
Our vision is a collaborative leadership structure that brings program officers and parent representatives together, giving families a meaningful voice in the decisions that shape their children’s experience.
Decisions should be guided by open communication, shared responsibility, and a commitment to doing what is best for the athletes. No single person should have unchecked authority over a program built through the dedication of so many.
Different voices. Shared responsibility.
LOOKING AHEAD
A DIFFERENT WAY FORWARD.
Flagship City Freeze is being developed as an independent youth tackle football program for eligible students attending private Catholic educational institutions within the Diocese of Erie.
Our goal is to build a program where opportunity is earned through commitment, effort, and teamwork—not limited by gender, race, religion, or background.
As we work toward a proposed inaugural 2027 season, our focus is on responsible leadership, player development, community support, and building an organization that can serve young athletes for generations.
We cannot change every decision that brought us here.
But we can decide what comes next.
FLAGSHIP CITY FREEZE
STRENGTH ISN’T GIVEN.
IT’S FORGED.
We believe adversity can become opportunity. That disappointment can become determination. And that the most meaningful response to a closed door is sometimes to build a new one.
Because sometimes, the strongest things are forged in the cold.
